‘Managing the global problems can not be imagined outside the multilateral diplomacy and, especially, without participation in UN activities, whether they refer to climate change or the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. Romania will maintain its strong commitment in efforts to combat climate change, particularly by supporting the EU actions. The major interest we are paying to this problem is the main reason four our intention to apply for hosting the UN conference in 2013,’ said the President.
He also said that most countries of the world would be affected by the economic crisis this year too. In this context, he said that, alongside implementation of economic policies to combat the effects of the global downturn, there must be launched, ‘ without delay,’ such reforms of international financial organisations to eliminate the factors that made possible such an evolution.
‘Accession to the OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) is a priority of Romania’s foreign affairs, so that we will make all the necessary efforts to meet as soon as possible this goal. I also want to use this opportunity to express my confidence Romania will benefit of the support of your states, member of OECD, in the perspective of the forthcoming enlargement,’ said the President.
