‘The European Union member states are obliged to take all necessary measures in order to improve energy efficiency for final users and to set an energy savings national target of minimum nine percent for the ninth year of the directive’s application regarding the energy performance of buildings.
Although this measure will not have any effect upon the dynamics of new buildings construction, it will stimulate the thermal rehabilitation works, the latter being able to cause a growth of up to 20 percent of the construction materials market against the present figures,’ estimated Augustin Russu, general manager of Baumix.
In the context of the thermal rehabilitation works being more dynamic, the construction materials that are in the highest demand will be polystyrene adhesives, decorative plaster, and accessories – thermal insulation system elements. The demand for these materials may register an increase of even 20 percent, as per Baumix estimations.
According to the building’s features and investments, the energy losses may be reduced up to the point of energy passivation, which might lead to a 5-10 percent increase in the old houses prices.
Baumix is one of the most important construction materials producers, working on the Romanian market since 2003. Currently the company has two production plants, in P loiesti (southern Romania) and Gherla (central Romania), with a production capacity of 35,000 tonnes per month.
