Loading ...Romania’s President Traian Basescu stated on Sunday, in Iasi (east), on the occasion of events dedicated to the Romanian Principalities Union, that “those who speak about the territorial autonomy, categorically fail to grasp that the unity is kept harbored in the Romanians’ soul”.
The head of state underlined that the union of Jan. 24, 1859 “was not solely an act of pure will, but Romanians’ need to be together, to be united”. “Politicians’ aspirations, who would like to interpret in one way or another the Romanian state’s unity, look childish or lacking substance (…).
The Romanian people came with blood sacrifice in the First World War. I would say that all the big events conducive to the establishment of the Romanian unitary state were paid by the people”, underlined Traian Basescu.
