The ceremony was attended by Major General Nick Carter, commander of the Regional Command South, Zabul Province Governor Mohammed Ashraf Nasseri, Commodore Costel Avramescu, chief of staff of the Joint Operations Command, as well as representatives of the Afghan Police and National Army and commanders of the Romanian brigades in Afghanistan.
In his speech, Major General Nick Carter praised the activity carried out by the 280th Maneuver Battalion troops in the six months of mission, while Zabul province governor thanked the 280th Infantry Battalion troops for maintaining a security climate in the province and welcomed the 33rd Posada Battalion, adding that he is looking forward to collaborating with them.
The military ceremony started with a moment of silence in memory of the troops who died on duty in Afghanistan. The tasks to be fulfilled by the mountain troops include the security of the area they have been tasked with, the conduct of military operations together with the Afghan forces, humanitarian support actions, patrolling missions and safe escort of convoys.
