‘We have requested an analysis on extending the government guarantees volume, with a view to increasing the ceiling on state guarantees, so that we will be able to use this instrument for helping local communities with providing them the money for co-financing. Moreover, we would be able thus to extend this mechanism to other fields as well, such as the ‘First Home’ programme and also to support the private companies developing European programmes and NGOs,’ Boc said.
He stressed that Romania will receive the 3rd and the 4th instalments from the IMF (International Monetary Fund) for the country has achieved its objectives.
‘I do not think we will have any kind of problem in receiving the next tranches from the IMF, since our commitments are met, and I am positive the programme will go on properly and that we will respect all our pledges under it. It was considered that Romania has met its international commitment. This is a sign of credibility, which will help us in international economic relations in the upcoming period,’ said the Premier.
He avoided specifying what reproaches did afterall bring the international bodies to the Romanian government. ‘It was only about such issues to be discussed by each relevant ministry,’ answered Boc.
The Premier and the Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu on Saturday had an one-hour meeting with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and the World Bank, assessing the current stage of Romania’s arrangement with the international bodies, both from the perspective of 2009 and from that of 2010. Emil Boc noted that he would have another meeting with representatives of the three bodies next week.
