According to a release of the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Stockholm, directors Razvan Radulescu and Melissa de Raaf will be at the Festival, where they will present their film and they will also participate in the Q & A sessions after the screenings. ‘Felicia above All’ will be shown in the section ‘ Critics’ Week,’ along with other six fiction films.
Each of the films in the debut section was proposed by a film critic. The directing debut of Razvan Radulescu was selected by Swedish critic Annika Gustafsson, who motivated in the festival’s catalogue that ‘Felicia above All’ is ‘a sincere story about conflict and tension between generations, the daughter confronting its parents stuck in the communist mentalities, while trying to discover the true meaning of words.’ The film directed by Razvan Radulescu and Melissa de Raaf has received funding from the Gothenburg International Film Festival Fund, in 2007.
The fiction film ‘ The Happiest Girl in the Whole World’ directed by Radu Jude was screened in the debut section at the Gothenburg festival. In the Festival’s catalogue, film critic Hynek Pallas wrote: “Romanian director Radu Jude made his debut in feature film, with an work that would have felt familiar with the Czechoslovakian comedy films of the 1960s. Pallas also notes that ‘the film is a criticism of consumerism and an allusion to the fact that several of the Romanian directors live from producing advertisements.’
