First exchange transaction in EUA allowances cleared in Romania

27 ianuarie 2010

Information in English

Sibex and the Romanian Clearing House (CRC) have cleared the first transaction on the stock exchange arranged for European Union Allowances (EUA) that allow trade in greenhouse gas emissions, the Sibiu Money and Commodity Exchange reports.

This is a first in Romania, because all the dealings involving EUAs were conducted outside the exchanges, exclusively, prior to January 22. EUAs are certificates issued under the European Union Emission Trading Scheme, one of the main policy pillars of the European Union in the areas of climate change and pollution reduction.

‘Our company is permanently interested in promoting new and innovative segments of the capital market. The development in Romania of a strong exchange market for greenhouse gas emission allowances is a new major objective to us,’ says Intercapital Invest Chairman Razvan Pasol.
