The government’s priorities underlie two fundamental objectives – Romania’s modernization and providing the Romanian citizens with jobs amid efforts to emerge from the crisis, Prime Minister Emil Boc on Monday told a Senate plenary meeting.

“As far as modernization is concerned, 20 years after the Revolution, we have democratic institutions in place that comply with the requirements of Western democracy, but there are still many issues that need to be settled, apart from the institutional facet – the way of relating to the citizen, the way public money is being spent in Romania. (…)

The country’s modernization also means equality before the law, observance of the non-discrimination principle and ensuring the development of education and infrastructure,” said Emil Boc. According to the Premier, the political class cannot be left aside of the modernization process.
