The Bulgarian official highlighted the good cooperation existing along Romanian-Bulgarian border, which may be enhanced by contacts between authorities and initiation of joint projects of economic and social development, in order the two sides to benefit even more of opportunities brought by their accession to EU.
Attending the celebrations in Alexandria, initiated by Romanian-Bulgarian Friendship Association, there were also, alongside the Bulgarian Ambassador, officials from Bulgarian cities of Belene and Svishtov, and also local authorities from Alexandria, including underprefect Florica Mara and Mayor Victor Dragu and also Liberal Senator of Teleorman County Romeo Nicoara.
The hosts and the guests have performed together traditional rituals on the Zarezean Day, both religious and pagan canons followed, with vineyards near the city of Alexandria and the setting of winter as scenery.
Romanian and Bulgarian priests who officiated the service sprinkled the vines with wine from bottles buried in the autumn, to chase away pests and diseases and to bring wealth in the new crop year. The program included also contests of best wines, the Alexandria Town Hall rewarding the winners with total prizes worth RON 1,000.
