Hungarian low-cost air company Wizz Air estimates some 25 percent rise in the number of passengers in Romania, in 2010, from 1.6 million passengers to 2.1 million passengers, announced on Thursday Gyorgy Abran, commercial director of Wizz Air.
“This year we will introduce two new Airbus A310 aircraft for Romania and new routes, and each aircraft will transport 300,000 passengers this year, both planes going to start operations in June”, said Wizz Air representative.
He stressed that this year the company will account for 45 percent on the low-cost segment of the market, compared to 43 percent, of the Romanian low-cost operator Blue Air. Wizz Air carried in 2009 7.8 million passengers, the highest rise being recorded in Romania, with 1.65 million passengers in 2009, a jump of 87 percent as against 2008.
