Romanian State Secretary for Strategic Affairs Bogdan Aurescu takes part in the 46th edition of the Conference on security policy being held in Munich on Feb. 5-7, the Foreign Affairs Ministry announced in a release on Friday.

The participants will discuss such topics as the security of resources and the developments in the global power relations, the future of European and global security, the arms control and the prospects of regional security in the Middle East, NATO’s future with special emphasis on the new Strategic Concept and the alliance role in Afghanistan.

This year’s edition of the Conference held under the slogan ‘No more excuses!’ will gather more than 300 senior officials, including heads of state and government, officials of the main international inter-governmental organisations with responsibilities in the security area as well as respected nongovernmental organisations.
Aurescu will hold a range of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Conference.

The Munich Security Conference, held for the first time in 1962, has become an informal setting for talks on security and international relations policies. Starting 1999, Central and Eastern Europe states have also been invited to attend.
