By the end of the year, MCSI must pay the first instalment, financiarul.ro reads on Friday. Among the beneficiaries of the licenses there are the Interior, Justice, Finance, Defense, Health and Agriculture ministries. MCSI organised a tender in July 2009, but only a consortium made of D-Con.Net AG, D-Con.Net GmbH, Comsoft Direct AG Bechtle Holding Schweiz AG and Microsoft Dim Soft SRL Romania (as subcontractor) participated.
The contract was signed a month later. In 2004, the Government signed a contract with Microsoft to use the U.S. company’s products for a period of five years. Contract terms define the use of a total of approximately 50,000 Microsoft licenses worth 54 million dollars, with the money having already been paid. In 2009, payments to Microsoft totalled 57.86 million dollars.
