Information in English

The short film ‘The Birdcage’, directed by Adrian Sitaru, won the DAAD prize on Tuesday evening, a prize awarded by the German Academic Exchange Service, on the occasion of the 60th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival.

The DAAD award the Romanian director received brings him a three-month residence grant under the Artists-in-Berlin Programme. ‘The Birdcage’ competed in the Berlinale Shorts section together with other 24 productions.
The film tells the story of Alex, a child who finds an ailing pigeon in the street and takes it at home, where he encounters the resistance of his father. Following a series of discussions, the pigeon finds itself a place in the balcony, but Alex now wants a bird cage too, which unfortunately arrives too late.
