The prizes were handed in by company President Piero Gnudi and delegate manager Fulvio Conti in a ceremony held at Enel headquarters that was also attended by Italian Youth Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Bucharest students coordinated by teacher Steliana Petcu got the first prize at the XXL category (high school students) for their project called Campaign for Energy Efficiency.
On this occasion, Romanian ambassador to Italy Razvan Rusu had a meeting with the Romanian students, whom he congratulated and encouraged ‘to also get involved in the future with the same active spirit and creativity in projects of international breadth, that play a role in raising the younger generation’s awareness of the importance of the energy issue’.
The winners of PlayEnergy 2009 contest, in which 112,000 teens took part with more than 3,000 projects also included students from Italy, Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia and Panama. The contest is aimed at sensitising and raising the younger generations’ awareness of the activities related to energy efficiency and the rational resource consumption.
