The advisory was issued following the recent major earthquake that hit Chile leaving hundreds dead and huge damage in its wake.
MAE reports that communications, electricity and drinkable water supply are down in some parts of the country, including the capital city of Santiago de Chile. Romania’s Embassy in Chile is said to be in permanent contact with the local authorities to find out whether the earthquake affected Romanian nationals who were in the country. MAE does not have yet any information that Romanians might be among the victims or had to suffer in the aftermath of the catastrophe.
