PM Boc requires simplified papers for Moldovan cross-border travelers

4 martie 2010

Information in English

Prime Minister Emil Boc on Wednesday asked the Foreign Ministry to simplify travel paper for Moldovan citizens who want to enter Romania under the terms of the recent Agreement signed by Bucharest and Chisinau aimed at facilitating small-scale cross-border traffic.

“Thus, Moldovan citizens will be able to state, under signature, that they meet all the legal requirements in order to benefit from the terms of this agreement,” said the Romanian government’s spokesperson Ioana Muntean.
The requirements set for the release of the small-scale cross-border traffic permit, namely the traveler’s obligation to present invitations and documentary evidence from Romania, also certified by a notary, sparked the discontent of both the Moldovan population and of the authorities in Chisinau, report mass media from across the Prut.
