Basescu advocated the use by Kazakh operators of Romanian oil and gas expertise and technology. Nazarbayev indicated that Kazakhstan will meet the Romanian demand for uranium. Basescu also said that Romania has supported the EU-Kazakhstan joint decision to review the existing bilateral contractual framework in order to establish an advanced partnership or conclude a new agreement between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
