‘We are astounded by the media zealous excesses that put Romania in embarrassing situations. Romania and its Finance Ministry (MFP) have worked within the statistical margins. Romania comes beneath the error margins of the prognosis set by the EU,’ said FinMin Vladescu. He also stressed that the social cohesion policies have to meet the macroeconomic balance.
‘The salary obligations we have to pay are excessive. I’m not saying that the Romanians get too much money. We need a social cohesion policy, and to fight against poverty. This policy has to fit the general context of the macroeconomic balance. A social policy must be within the framework of the macroeconomic balance,’ FinMin Vladescu stressed.
Likewise, the MFP official pointed out the role Romania’s Central Bank (BNR) played during the financial crisis peak. As for Romania’s capability to overcome the crisis, FinMin Vladescu said: ‘If we managed over 1997-2000, we can see, if we look at the budget, that Romania is rich, today. We’ll manage it this time as well. We won’t be able to help all the vested interests, and I’m not pejoratively speaking. Competition is helpful to teach people to succeed.
Overcoming the crisis depends on what the Government is to do, on the BNR, but also on every Romanian, on the investors, on the individual and the collective effort the groups are making.’
