The PSD Senator addressed himself to the EU Agriculture Commissioner, on the occasion of an event on Thursday hosted by the European Parliament, dedicated to the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU, reads a PSD release.
In this context, European Commissioner Dacian Ciolos specified that there will be applied certain criteria for granting subsidies to all member states, so as to reach a balance and to reduce the existing gap.
“European Social-Democrats have called for a reform of CAP, to play the role of a viable answer to increasing global challenges related to food safety and climate change. S&D experts in the European Parliament consider that the CAP reform should be based on some fundamental elements: competitiveness, sustainability, market regulation, European coordination, fairness and simplification,’ reads the press release.
The seminar entitled “A long-term vision for the CAP after 2013” was held at the EP headquarters in Brussels, with Stephane Le Foll, Vice Chairman of S&D, Luis Capoulas Santos, Coordinator of S&D within the EP’s Committee on Agriculture (AGRI), Elena Espinoza, Spanish Minister of the Environment and Rural and the Marine (from the part of the Spanish presidency of the European Union), Paolo de Castro, head of the AGRI Committee (S & D), and Dacian Ciolos, European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development delivered speeches.
