‘Indeed, the Romanian tourism sector’s privatization has been made wrongly, and you can witness the results, now. It was in 2009, for the first time, that the state backed up the tourism sector through investments in its infrastructure, and I hope our actions, to continue, will attract foreign investors, too.
I agree that no tourism is possible without promotion, and the amounts that have been allocated, over the latest years, are tiny related to the requirements and compared the investments the vying countries in the regions have already made. To get results, a sustainable, constant and consistent effort is needed.
It is very weird, that it is exactly those who, over the past 20 years, were contributing to the disastrous condition the Romanian tourism reached in 2009, who are now attacking all the efforts that have been lately made, at home,’ reads Tourism Minister’s statement.
German TUI tour operator’s officials said that in terms of tourism development, Romania lags, seven, eight years, behind Bulgaria, and it failed attracting foreign investors, while the latter had made considerable progress, after the privatization.
World biggest tour operator TUI returned on the Romanian market, after a 4-year absence. Starting 2010, Romania is advertised, as a summer destination, in the booklet devoted to our country, and delivered to over 10,000 travel agencies, in Germany.
