He also added that one of the Government’s priorities was the fight against fraud, a more efficient cooperation of police and prosecutors with the fiscal control authorities of the Finance Ministry was needed, especially with the Anti-Money Laundering Office.
According to the data provided by Blaga, the police in 2009 recorded an estimated damage caused by fiscal offences amounting to 19 billion lei (4.49 billion euros), 210 percent higher than in 2008.
The Minister eulogized the activity carried out in 2009 by the police together with the prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism Offences (DIICOT). „Following the actions taken by the Police together with DIICOT, 246 criminal organizations were annihilated in 2009 and 841 persons arrested,” said Blaga.
At the same time, Blaga assured the prosecutors of their good collaboration with the General Directorate for Intelligence and Internal Security and with the General Anti-Corruption Directorate within the Ministry of Administration and the Interior, following the reforms of this Ministry.
