Old Car scrappage scheme to be assigned 50,000 extra vouchers

The government at the Wednesday meeting held in Iasi (eastern Romania) decided to assign 50,000 extra vouchers to individuals, under the Old Car scrappage programme, Prime Minister Emil Boc announced.

Thus, the car fleet renewal programme was supplemented with RON 195 million, Boc said. „I say this to assure those Romanians who want to benefit from the scheme that we do have the necessary financial resources to continue it,” said the Premier. According to him, there were already launched purchase procedure for about 4,000 new cars, under the Old Car scrappage scheme – 2010 edition, with 12,000 vouchers having already reached the companies that sell cars.
„The effect that we hoped, to also generate horizontal support in industry, and also to support jobs, it happens,” said the Premier.
