‘We insisted that the Constitution should not be hastily revised and the process should not be subjected to any political, demagogical or electoral commandments,’ said Vosganian. He reasserted that the Liberals want Romania to be a parliamentary republic, with a bicameral Parliament, which he said is the gain of modern history.
Vosganian argued that a second chamber of Parliament should be kept in place to represent the territorial-administrative units of the country.
He also warned that the Constitution in force includes some overlapping of the executive powers of Government and the President that should be eliminated, because ‘it is a source of conflicts among the state powers.’
