He said he is ready to accommodate all the opinions of the political parties on Constitution revision, but he will not compromise on the will of the Romanian people in relation to a single-chamber Parliament and a cut of the MP seats to at most 300, as it appeared at the November 2009 referendum, which he called.
‘All the opposition parties agree that the Constitution needs to be revised. Yet, there should be the idea that, irrespective of the parties’ opinions, the vote of Romanians at the referendum must be taken into account in a way or another. There is a diversity of opinions, but nobody rejects the idea that the will of Romanians should be done. There is also consensus among all the opposition parties that the State needs to be reformed,’ the President said.
