According to a release of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), both sides expressed their satisfaction with the consistency of the bilateral dialogue between Romania and South Korea, as well as with the dynamism of the high-level political dialogue between the two countries.
The signing, in September 2008, of the Joint Declaration on establishing a strategic partnership between Romania and the Republic of Korea, on the occasion of President Traian Basescu’s visit to South Korea, has represented a landmark in this respect, with further actions having been headed towards the concretization of this partnership.
The two countries’ delegations have reviewed the bilateral agenda for 2010 and had an exchange of views on prospects for expansion of bilateral relations in the context of the celebration this year of twenty years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Romania and the Republic of Korea.
The Romanian side underlined its interest in enhancing and diversifying bilateral economic cooperation areas, in order to equilibrate the balance of trade, as well in stimulating flow of Korean investments in Romania.
Both sides have reaffirmed the common interest to further amplification of the bilateral relations of both countries at various levels, both bilaterally, as well in relation to the European Union. The agenda of the talks between the two high officials also included assessment of the evolution of regional and international situations of common interest.
