‘We believe this is the time to prove that quality tourism is possible in Romania, that mentality can be changed. Romania is a beautiful destination and it must be explored by Romanian travellers as well. ANAT has planned to start off an educational campaign. Even this international travel show, patterned on any similar international show abroad, is an attempt at changing mentalities, because it aches us to see how hard it is for us to sell holidays in Romania,’ Martin told Radio Romania Actualitati public radio station.
She added that there is a negative perception with Romanian travellers, who would like to go anywhere in the world, but in their home country. ‘Unfortunately, there are very many Romanian holidaymakers who prefer to heap criticism on Romanian destinations and say that elsewhere is better, that prices are lower in other countries, and that nothing is good in Romania,’ Martin said.
Representing Romania in the Holiday Market show is the Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism (MDRT), which set up a stand, where also displaying are professional organisations, employers’ associations and tourism promotion organisations. ‘We are especially happy to see that our efforts to promote Romanian destination are rounded up by travel entrepreneurs through concrete actions.
We are supporting all the initiatives that contribute to the development of Romanian travel industry, such as this first edition of the Holiday Market international travel show organised by ANAT,’ said MDRT state secretary Sorin Munteanu. Holiday Market covers 3,500 square metres at the Parliament Palace in Bucharest.
