„April 22 will be a day of national protest, when all educational activities will be halted. If such actions of the teaching staff do not end up in the observance of the education programs and if no efficient solutions are found, the teachers will not complete the students’ year-end reports and the premises will be created for the start of a general strike in the first decade of June,” said Marius Nistor.
He added that a delegation would also be established, including representatives of the four union federations that will submit memos to the European Parliament and will seek audiences with the European Commissioner for Education and the Commissioner for Justice, respectively.
Marius Nistor also said that all members of education trade unions will boycott national tests, and that starting Monday, March 22, no grades and scores would be entered in official school documents.
The union leader also said that a meeting would be organized in Bucharest on March 25 followed by a march of protest. On March 25, debates on the national education bill will be organized in all schools nationwide, and there will be no teaching activity on that day.
On April 14 the executive bureaus of the four trade union federations will meet to consider the proposals emerged from debates and a document will be prepared that will be submitted to parliamentary groups. Marius Nistor stressed that these actions are not aimed at the teaching staff alone, but also at the quality of infrastructure and of the educational act.
