‘I think we have to head for regions, although this is to bring about much turmoil in all the political parties and the administrative systems. (…) But, beyond the way we are to amend it (the Constitution – editor’s note) the essential is the genuine decentralization, and not to go back to fiefs,’ Antonescu told the TVR public television.
According to Antonescu, Romania has currently reached the utmost politicization degree, and he blamed PM Emil Boc for the situation.
‘No mater what sort of Constitution we do (…), it will be of no avail if we fail responsibly depoliticizing the state’s administration institutions. PM Boc, in response, reproached Crin Antonescu for the fact he failed meeting the proposal of concluding a stability pact of the public posts.
‘I propose the partners, we sign the stability pact of the public posts, whereby we are to establish up to which level the heads of the governmental agencies or the deconcentrated services shall be replaced, irrespectively who comes at rule in Romania.
Antonescu, however answered Romania’s Prime Minister that ‘ he is not credible.’ as a politician. ‘We all are to discuss it, I agree. But, how can I trust Mr. Boc as a party leader, as the Prime Minister? I need to see some tiny gestures,’ the PNL official concluded.
