‘Crisis is an opportune time for starting up in business, and the franchise system provides tested business solutions that provides almost guaranteed success. For instance, a monthly profit of 10,000 euro can be derived from a 5,000-euro investment in sports betting. Handsome profits can be derived in the food sectors as well, which is quite successful in Romania,’ said Anton.
He added that the economic crisis has been good to the franchise industry because it helped pruning the franchises and leaving behind only strong, traditional and successful franchises. Anton said that there are 320-330 franchisers and master franchisers currently operating in Romania, 61 percent of whom are from abroad.
Nearly half of the franchises are in the services sector – hotel management, express courier, cleaning, cars wash – with the remaining operating in the food industry and tourism. There are also some metallurgy production franchises in stand-by.
Anton said that five new fast food and bio food franchises are about to enter Romania. The World Trade Plaza is hosting, May 20-22, the IFBE 2010 international show of franchises and branding, organised by the Romanian Franchise Association (ARF) in partnership with Euroexpo Trade Fairs. IFBE 2010 is designed to help develop the local franchise market and provide better connections with the world markets.
There are exhibitors from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Lithuania, Austriala and the US displaying at the show. Part of the show, ARF will be holding conferences delivered by Romanian and foreign specialists, including Mustafa Aydin, chairman and founding member of the Black Sea Franchise Federation and chairman of the Turkish Franchise Association, and The Johnny Rockets Group Vice-Chairman for International Development Steven J. Devine.
